yup, guess it wasn't too clear, my idea originally is that they were both planning to kill the other without them knowing,
and yes, it was in WIP sketch thread, redid the whole thing though.

thanks, yiit. it's my fave too. amazing how my 9-year old drawing could get more points..but hey. i agree with the contrast, i was fooling around with it on PS but any more iand i would have lost my grays, and i love them. heh. Passion..i see whaty you mean, honestly the emotion i had in mind for this never showed as much as i wanted. have to work on that.

Rafsan- tnx. funny thing, in all the sketches and up to the final drawing they did have their eyes closed. my idea was they had no idea they other was going to kill them. but i kinda fell in love with the face of the girl and couldn't get the guy's eye closed to look right so...

Just wanted say that this drawing is great. concept, composition, workmenship are great.. the guys face looks a bit akward.. but no matter. i loved the idea of of the 'dramatic irony' where both characters don't really understand whats about to happen but the viewer does. the boarders around the picture are also a very nice touch. full points. keep going!

I really like this drawing. You have a lot of skill with a pencil. Lots of little details. The few probs i see is her eyes dont look quite right and his thumb on the hand that is holding the dagger seems a little bent to far...

love it, but agree with Crystal on the eyes.

lordspewbarfer: thanks, the irony was never as clear as i wanted, i basically had to tell people about it, but glad you see some of it.

crystalmyst: thanks, that's a generous compliment. but aww...i love her face, but now i can see what you mean. if you mean the left eye, the shadow sort of darkened when i scan and adjusted contrast, and bled into the eyes. doesn't look as noticeable in the original. if you mean the right, you're going to get an argument there

i'm glad you pointed this out to me, your pencil work is greatly improved over the last piece i critiqued, i'm pretty shocked actually, its a big difference, but you maintain the line and form technique that was great in the prior image...i like the facial expressions of the fairy and the centaur, i like the details on the background trees, its also very immersive, brining you into the piece, even though its bordered...

your shading it great, the black thick lines you use to block are also well done, i could see you taking these skills to wizard of the coast, easily, i don't want to critique the image itself anymore, its a +9, but i think you should consider either A. coloring, or learning to color B. finding an inker because right now your sketch is not commercially viable, but its at the point were most sketch artists would hand it off to there colorist...you could and should be doing this for a living

elf: thanks. i think i mentioned earlier, i did want to contrast this more but i couldn't without losing more of my graytones. unless there's some better way to do it. thanks though.

petergrave5:big difference? hope so, 9 years later after all. kind of you to say, though WOTC or the like isn't really an option. more interested in comic book work as a writer/artist. and hire an inker and colorist heh. though i'm planning to give coloring a go myself.

ps. you must be the only one who noticed she's a centaur, or the only one who thought to mention it. thanks. i'm kinda proud of her, took a while to figure out how to do her bottom half w/out any reference. thanks again.

There's not anything I dont like about this artwork. Your border is wonderful, the fairy's expression is great. The lover's emotion has been captured perfectly in my opinion. Just the right amount of details.

I like this, nice depth and sense of perspective through the trees. I'm afraid I don't know enough about drawing to give you any constructive crits about technique, but I'll do my best!

- The torso's of the centaur and human appear to be more finished that the horse part of the centaur.
- Is the human kneeling down? If so, is he on a higher level than the centaur? If he isn't, then the centaur would have to have quite stumpy legs.

"Both centaur and human law forbid even the memory of their love." hehe, I'm a little disturbed by the logistics of love between a human and a horse/woman! I think I want to forget the image that put in my head!

Just noticed the little fairy...good addition, it adds to the whole fairy tale/fantasy thing.

That is such an intricate work! I really like the way you frame the picture inside the tree and the vines but for the most part I really love all of these details that you put into the drawing. The armor and the dryad.. err centaur outfit looks so well designed. The only thing is the leafs at the top left looks a bit rough compare to the rest of the composition. It just look slightly unfinished that's all with some overlapping lines.

This work sure deserve max score! Well the max that I can give anyway ^^.
